Lighthouses. Working harbours. The ocean on every side of the day.

A province surrounded by weather and welcome

Nova Scotia is a province the ocean never leaves alone. The Bay of Fundy pushes the highest tides on earth against its red cliffs. The South Shore strings fishing villages and lighthouses along the granite. Cape Breton rises into highlands where the road hugs the sea hundreds of feet up.

An elopement here can be a lighthouse at dawn with nobody around. A harbour full of working boats and gulls. A lodge in the trees, like Colford Lodge, where Fanny and Brad celebrated with Levi the dog at their side, in tall grass and soft light. Real places, real people, no stage set anywhere.

The welcome is part of the geography. Nova Scotians feed strangers, point you to the beach nobody lists, and treat a wedding day like good news for the whole village. Your elopement becomes a story the place tells with you.

I am Yanick Lesperance, elopement photographer and filmmaker based in Eastern Canada. In Nova Scotia I photograph and I film, and I guide you to the coastlines and quiet corners I have come to love. You get me. Nothing less. Nobody else.

FAQ

Questions about eloping in Nova Scotia

Where in Nova Scotia can we elope?

On the South Shore among the lighthouses and fishing villages, in the Cape Breton Highlands above the sea, on the Fundy shore under the great tides, or at a lodge in the forest. Tell me the feeling you are chasing and I will match the coast to it.

What is the best season for a Nova Scotia elopement?

June to October. Summer for warm seas and long evenings. Fall for the Cape Breton colours, which are among the finest on earth, and for harbours that empty back to the locals.

Can we bring our dog to our Nova Scotia elopement?

Please do. Dogs are family. Fanny and Brad brought Levi to Colford Lodge and he walks through their photographs like he owns the day. He nearly does.

Can we marry legally in Nova Scotia?

Yes. A Nova Scotia marriage licence and a registered officiant or a justice of the peace can marry you anywhere in the province. I will point you to the right people.

How far is Nova Scotia from the rest of Eastern Canada?

Halifax is a short flight from Montreal, Toronto and Boston, and the province is a comfortable drive from New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Wild coast, easy reach.
