Shorelines and long light on the lake. A place that sits higher than the world.

The county, the lake, the two of you
Prince Edward County is an island county on the north shore of Lake Ontario, and it carries its light differently. Long evenings over the water. Quiet roads between vineyards and farms. Beaches of pale sand at Sandbanks, where the dunes rise like the edge of another country.
An elopement here is a slow day built around the two of you. Vows on a shoreline at first light, or under the trees where the air stays cool. A table for two in a field. The lake doing whatever it wants with the weather, and the two of you warm inside it.
I am Yanick Lesperance, an elopement photographer and filmmaker based in Eastern Canada. In the County I am also your guide. I know the quiet corners of the shoreline, the farms and small inns that welcome a tiny wedding, and the hours when the light turns gold over the water. You get me. Nothing less. Nobody else.
Prince Edward County sits a few hours from Toronto and a morning drive from Ottawa and Montreal. Close enough to reach without an expedition. Wild enough, once the day visitors leave, to feel like the end of the world.
FAQ
Questions about eloping in Prince Edward County
Where in Prince Edward County can we elope?
On the Sandbanks dunes, on quiet stretches of Lake Ontario shoreline, among the trees and fields inland, or at a small inn or farm that hosts intimate weddings. Tell me the feeling you want and I will bring you the places that match it.
What is the best season for a Prince Edward County elopement?
Late spring through the fall harvest. Summer gives you warm lake water and the longest light. September and October give you empty beaches, gold fields and cool air that pulls you close. Winter here is quiet and stark, and beautiful in its own hard way.
Can we marry legally in Prince Edward County?
Yes. Ontario marriage licences are simple to obtain, and an officiant can marry you anywhere in the county. I will point you to the right people. Many couples also sign the papers at home and keep the wild ceremony for the day itself.
How far is Prince Edward County from Toronto and Ottawa?
About two and a half hours from Toronto, and a similar drive from Ottawa. Close enough for a wedding weekend, far enough that the shoreline empties and the day feels like yours alone.
Do you photograph and film our elopement in the County?
Both, with the same pair of eyes. Your Prince Edward County elopement is documented in photographs and in a film, by the one person who walked the whole day with you.
